About Logansport State Hospital


Logansport State Hospital is a state-operated inpatient psychiatric hospital for adults with mental illness. Using an interdisciplinary approach and evidence-based programming, we promote recovery and return of the individual to the community. 

A Day in the Life:

Duties include:

  • Floor care that involves dusting, damp and dry mopping floors.  Strips, waxes, seals and buffs/burnish; vacuums floors, and shampoos carpets as assigned.
  • Cleans and sanitizes restrooms including toilets, urinals, sinks, tubs, showers and plumbing fixtures.  Replenishes dispenser supplies and empties trash.
  • Empties waste baskets, replaces liner and washes baskets as needed
  • Performs high/low and surface cleaning including walls, windows, cabinets, furniture and light fixtures
  • Maintains supply cart and cleaning closets throughout the hospital.
  • Has knowledge of chemical usage, hospital infection control and hazardous material procedures.  Uses and maintains equipment in accordance with guidelines
What We Are Looking For:

A candidate with one (1) year full-time work experience (education can substitute for required work experience).

What You Will Need for Success:
  • Working knowledge of the proper care of, and abilityto use, cleaning equipment such as mops, brooms, vaccum, cleaners, power scrubbers, , polishers and buffers.
  • Working knowledge ov ghe variety and uses of cleaning and sanitizing agents. 
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Assists in training new employees and complete necessary reports and order items.
  • Effectively communicate, both orally and in writing.

If this is an Intermittent position, the position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period.
