About the Family & Social Services Administration:

The Division of Family Resources (DFR) within the Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) is responsible for establishing eligibility for Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families benefits. The division also manages the timely and accurate delivery of SNAP and TANF benefits.  DFR also provides employment and training services to some SNAP and TANF recipients. The division’s overarching focus is the support and preservation of families by emphasizing self-sufficiency and personal responsibility.

 

Role Overview

This role, Review Reader, completes program reviews and special projects. Providing direction to program directors and Bureau of Program Integrity (BPI) staff. You will review completed cases for accuracy in policy, procedure, and math. identifying and resolving discrepancies.  Your role completes referrals, letters of non-concurrence, Federal differences and answers policy questions in a clear, concise and persuasive manner.  You will maintain a current policy/reference manual and correctly apply appropriate policy to the selected time frame of review.  You will also participate in the coaching, development, training, and job responsibilities of reviewers by giving constructive feed back on case file reviews, analyze training needs, and in the development of training materials. 
The ideal candidate will have specialized knowledge acquired through college or through an extensive work experience that provided training/comparable knowledge.  They will have strong attention to detail skills. 


Salary Statement

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $47,320.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

 

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows: 

  • Develop specific service program guidelines, policy and procedures.
  • Interpret and implement legislation and regulations from department administration.
  • Develop proposals and statistical tools.
  • Perform analytical review and maintenance of service-specific data.
  • Participate in grant writing process.
  • Continually update knowledge of current trends within specific geographical area assigned.
  • Collaborate with program development staff, except in those situations where incumbent serves in both capacities.

What You'll Need for Success:

You must meet the following requirement to be considered for employment:

  • Thorough knowledge of the grants process including allocation, protocol, contracting and evaluation.
  • Specialized knowledge of the program area.
  • Expert knowledge of program-specific networks, terminology and concepts used in the field.
  • Specialized knowledge of departmental, divisional and unit policies and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of fiscal concepts.
  • Skill in interpersonal relationships, organizational methods, and managerial styles.
  • Ability to solve complex problems independently.
  • Ability to manage assigned work with minimum direction.
  • Effective communication skills.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
